Success Story

Keep up the hard work, Helen!

Helen McDonald arrived at Hillside Heights following a hip fracture that significantly impacted her ability to move and care for herself. Upon admission, she faced challenges with basic tasks, needing moderate assistance with bed mobility, transfers, and personal activities like dressing. Initially, she could only walk 10 feet with physical assistance, limiting her independence.

Guided by the skilled therapy team, Helen began a rehabilitation plan to rebuild her strength, balance, and mobility. Through daily exercises and adaptive techniques, she gradually regained confidence in moving and managing her daily activities. Thanks to her determination and the team’s support, Helen made remarkable progress. She now manages bed mobility and transfers with minimal help and can walk 150 feet with a walker. Eager to return home to her beloved dog, Helen reflects, “Therapy is hard, but finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel of getting back home independently.”
