Visitation
Based on the daily activities and needs for our residents, recommended visiting hours are 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Other times may be accommodated and should be arranged in advance. We ask that visitors consider other patients when planning their visits, so to avoid disturbances.
Facility Overview
Hillside Heights Rehabilitation Suites is located just minutes away from some of the nation's finest healthcare facilities, many based at the Harrington Regional Medical Center campus in the northwest corner of Amarillo.
From the Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center to a regional Veterans Administration Hospital, these facilities serve Amarillo, the Panhandle and residents of four bordering states.
Northwest Texas Healthcare System, Baptist St. Anthony's Health Care System, Texas Tech Medical Center and a new Pavilion Hospital are among the facilities served by physicians, allied health professionals and many
others in specialty fields. Some 80 medical specialties and 100 surgical specialties are practiced in the health care community.
Hillside Heights Rehabilitation Suites is proud of its independent clinical practices, positive patient outcomes and innovative therapies. We employ staff that is trained to provide a wide range of services, from basic assistance with activities of daily living to delivering complex medical care.

Therapy treatment is provided by our skilled clinicians in our spacious and fully equipped therapy center that is designed with the latest therapy assessment, monitoring, and treatment modalities.
Our team of clinicians specializes in understanding the individual needs of our patients and how to best adjust the pace of rehabilitation to maximize success for each patient.
The team provides a full range of services including: mobility and endurance recovery, communication and cognitive augmentation, dysphasia management, orthotic fitting and training, pain management, activities of daily living and community living skills restoration.

Hillside Heights Rehabilitation Suites has a Pulmonary Medical Specialty unit. Our goal is to maximize the patient's level of independence and autonomy and increase the quality of life regardless of the condition or prognosis. The pulmonary team on this unit is lead by an independent Pulmonologist (a physician with expertise in managing conditions of the lungs) and staff trained specifically in the management of these conditions.
This unit focuses on the medical management and rehabilitation of those who have pulmonary conditions (conditions of the lungs and airways like COPD and pneumonia). We have oxygen that is piped in through the walls as well as medical air and wall suctioning available.
In an effort to maximize recovery and function based on individual and condition specific treatment planning. our clinicians provide services such as specialty pulmonary function/exercise capacity testing, Oxygen conservation techniques, endurance training, and provide pulmonary support groups/education as well as pulmonary specific outcomes/ condition impact measurements.
Pulmonary patients receive care at all levels, in a variety of treatment categories. At this time, we do not take ventilator patients (although this is in the near future) but we do provide care to patients who have recently been weaned from ventilator dependency.

We understand choosing a physician is one of the most important health care decisions a person must make, each physician with privileges to practice at Hillside Heights Rehabilitation Suites has been credentialed and reviewed by our Medical Director Quality Assurance Committee. Although we do not employ physicians we have partnered with a variety of specialist to meet the needs of our patients.
The Medical Director will work with the patient's Primary Care Physician (PCP) to promote continuity of care. We have an open panel for PCP's and welcome them to follow patient care. If your PCP is interested in following your care please have them contact our admissions team to find out more information about the credentialing process.
Hillside Heights Rehabilitation Suites is committed to delivering quality wound and ostomy care to patients with a variety of comprehensive medical needs. The loss of skin integrity can affect the physiological, psychological and the social well being of the individual suffering from acute or chronic debilitation. It is our goal to aide in the quick healing of wounds. At Hillside Heights Rehabilitation Suites we have partnered with an independent wound certified physician that specializes in wound care. This physician care is combined with continuous quality nursing care and progressive treatment modalities such as:
- Nutritional analysis and intervention by registered dietician
- Intensive diabetic stabilization and management
- Antibiotic therapy
- Superficial and / or chemical debridement
- Specialty mattresses and pressure relieving devices
Wound Care treatment categories may include:
- Post Surgical Wounds
- Postoperative Skin flaps
- Wound infection and associated IV therapy including (MRSA and VRE)
- Any stage pressure ulcer
- Amputation Site
- Wound Vac Therapy
The environment at Hillside Heights Rehabilitation is designed so that residents may live comfortably as part of a community. The activity calendar includes regular excursions out to dine, trips to community events, and shopping.
The recreation therapy department provides a variety of therapeutic activities based on each patient's needs and interests. We practice a holistic approach to nourishing the mind, body and spirit.
Restoration therapy programs encourage restoration of self-esteem and resumption of normal recreation and social activities. Recreational opportunities are adapted to compensate for physical and cognitive limitations as they promote optimal participation.
Long-term care assists those who may benefit from 24-hour nursing availability and assistance with meals, medication management, and other activities of daily living.
